Overview

Warsi Sewa Sadan was founded in the year 1982 by Ms Meraj Bano, who is its founder secretary. Starting from a small operational area in Kannauj, then a part of Farrukhabad district, and now an independent district, WSS is working in Kannauj, Farrukhabad, Kanpur, Auraiya and Etawah districts of Uttar Pradesh.

The thrust areas of WSS are education, health and empowerment of marginalised women especially Muslim women through economic intervention by encouraging traditional handicrafts and political intervention for raising voices on civil rights, functioning of PRIs, social evils like female infanticide, superstitions, oppression against dalit and women, child marriage, dowry, etc.

Ms Meeraj Bano, a Master in Sociology and Economics, is a dedicated and committed professional. She is engaged in social work, especially towards empowerment of Muslim women. She is very active and hard working woman having good leadership and interpersonal skills. She has excellent knowledge of socio-economic condition of Muslim women of Farrukhabad and other district of central Uttar Pradesh.
